Borno State Government Pays ₦600,000 Each To Families 48 Farmers Slaughtered By Boko Haram

The families of each of the 48 farmers killed by Boko Haram on rice farms in Borno State have received ₦600,000 each from the Borno State government.
They also received food parcels from a committee appointed by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to distribute relief items.
The money came from the Northern Governors Association, which contributed ₦20m, while the North East Development Commission (NEDC) contributed ₦5.
The committee, headed by the commissioner of youth and sports, Saina Buba, distributed the funds on Thursday in Zabarmari.
The other members of the distribution committee are a member of the House of Representatives representing Jere, two state legislators representing Jere, two advisers to the governor, and an elected chairman of Jere Local Government Area.
Buba explained that the ₦600,000 in food aid was not compensation to the victims, only to alleviate their suffering.
