Wikki Tourists, Barau FC Seal NPFL Promotion, Ahmed Musa Plans Dual Role At Kano Pillars

Wikki Tourists have secured a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in emphatic fashion.
Tourists dismantled Yobe Desert Stars 4-0 in their final group fixture of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight playoffs on Thursday.
Under the guidance of coach Abdu Maikaba, the Bauchi-based side surged to the top of the Conference A standings with five points.
Their dominant performance, capped by a sensational hat-trick from Wonderson Yakubu and a goal from Hassan, sealed their place in Nigeria’s top-flight for the 2025-2026 season.
Wikki Tourists will now lock horns with the Conference B leaders in the final to determine the overall champions of the 2024-2025 NNL campaign.
In another decisive fixture, Kano’s Barau FC etched their name into the history books by clinching their first promotion to the NPFL.
The Kano-based club defeated Doma United 2-0, thanks to goals from Usman Maidubji and Shammasu Muhd. The victory sparked celebrations across the city as the club prepares for its first taste of top-tier football.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles veteran Ahmed Musa is set to continue as a player for Kano Pillars despite his recent appointment as the club’s General Manager.
Musa, 32, officially took charge of administrative duties on Monday but showed no signs of hanging up his boots just yet.
The former Leicester City forward trained with the team at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Tuesday and is expected to lead the Pillars’ front line in the upcoming season.
The “Sai Masu Gida” are currently without a head coach following the departure of Usman Abdallah, with the search for a new technical adviser still ongoing.
