Crystal Palace Sign Borna Sosa, Henderson Nears Brentford Move, Spurs To Sign Gibbs-White, Others

Crystal Palace have signed Croatian international, Borna Sosa, from Ajax on a three-year deal.

Borna Sosa, 27, becomes Palace’s second major signing of the window, following the arrival of Argentine goalkeeper, Walter Benitez.

Sources close to the transaction say the fee may be about £2 million, though initial reports suggested the deal was worth £3 million.

Chairman Steve Parish described the Croatian as a “perfect fit,” adding that his arrival would bring “additional quality, experience and depth to our squad.”

The club, in an official statement, described him as a player “capable of influencing matches at both ends of the pitch.”

Sosa, who has 26 international caps, was instrumental in Croatia’s third-place finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He joined Ajax in September 2023 and featured in 25 matches before he moved on loan to Torino in Italy, where he played 20 games.

The Serie A side decided not to make the transfer permanent, hence, he had to move to Selhurst Park.

Sosa started his career at Dinamo Zagreb. He made a name for himself at Stuttgart in the Bundesliga before his move to Ajax.

Palace, who lifted the FA Cup last season, are still awaiting UEFA’s ruling on whether they will compete in the Europa League next season.

Henderson Set for Premier League Return

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is on the verge of returning to the Premier League. Brentford are expected to finalise a deal for the 35-year-old in the coming days.

Naija News reports that Henderson parted ways with Ajax earlier this week after both sides agreed to terminate his contract a year early.

Despite interest from other English and European clubs, Brentford have swiftly offered him on a two-year deal.

His expected arrival is seen as a timely replacement for Christian Norgaard, who recently joined Arsenal.

The 84-cap England midfielder is also keen to keep himself in contention for the national team ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Though he was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad, he has featured in all three selections made by new head coach Thomas Tuchel since January.

Henderson left Liverpool in 2023 to join Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia but made a quick return to Europe, signing for Ajax in January. He went on to make over 50 appearances for the Dutch club before leaving the side.

Spurs Push Forward on Morgan Gibbs-White Deal

Tottenham Hotspur are close to completing a big-money move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, with the 25-year-old scheduled for a medical on Friday.

Sources indicate that Spurs have activated the player’s £60 million release clause.

Gibbs-White, who registered seven goals and eight assists in the Premier League last season, had attracted interest from several top-flight clubs including Manchester City.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side appears to have cooled their pursuit, leaving Spurs to take the lead.

The England international, capped four times, is now poised to follow Anthony Elanga out of Nottingham Forest, following the Swede’s £55 million move to Newcastle earlier this week.

Since joining Forest from Wolves in 2022 for a club-record fee, Gibbs-White has recorded 118 appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing 28 assists.

Chelsea’s Jackson Draws Interest Amid Milan Enquiry

Nicolas Jackson could be the next Chelsea forward heading for the exit, as speculation around his future gains momentum following Noni Madueke’s transfer to Arsenal.

Reports suggest that AC Milan have made an initial approach for the Ivorian striker, although Chelsea’s current valuation may prove a stumbling block.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano noted that other Premier League sides have also been informed of Jackson’s availability.

The 23-year-old joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 but has struggled to consistently lock down a starting spot under a revolving door of managers.

Arsenal Confident Over Nwaneri Stay Despite Chelsea Links

Arsenal remain optimistic about keeping hold of teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri amid increasing interest from rivals Chelsea and several Bundesliga clubs.

The England U18 star was allowed to speak with other clubs earlier this year, sparking rumours of a potential exit.

However, according to The Guardian, the Gunners are confident the midfielder will put pen to paper on a new deal and continue his development at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.
