Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Reach 2025 WAFU B U-20 Final

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have qualified for the final of the WAFU B U-20 Championship after knocking out the Niger Republic.
The semi-final clash, which was played at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra, ended goalless after 90 minutes of regulation time.
From the first whistle, Nigeria dominated possession and pressed high, creating multiple chances, though none were converted.
The Flying Eagles registered three off-target shots in the first half, while the Nigeriens failed to register a single attempt on goal before the break.
Niger Republic, seemingly content to frustrate Nigeria’s rhythm, set up with a defensive wall that saw as many as seven men stationed behind the ball.
Their tactics kept the reigning champions at bay, but it also meant they offered little threat going forward.
As the game wore on, frustration mounted for the Flying Eagles. They pushed harder in the second half, but the final ball often let them down. Clear-cut chances remained elusive despite their dominance in midfield.
When the final whistle blew with the scores still locked at 0-0, it came down to a penalty shootout.
Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Ebenezer Harcourt, stepped up in the shootout, saving Niger’s opening penalty to give his team a crucial early edge. However, the pressure got to defender Tahir Maigana, who failed to convert his own kick.
At the end of the shootout, the Flying Eagles converted four of their spot-kicks while the Niger Republic managed just three.
The victory sends Nigeria to the final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final clash between hosts Ghana and the Ivory Coast.
