In a historic moment at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Coach Daniel Ogunmodede stood proudly at the centre of Nigerian football glory.

Remo Stars have confirmed that the Moshood Kashimawo Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta will serve as their temporary home ground for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The club announced on Monday that their Ikenne base is undergoing renovation works ahead of the new campaign.

Despite the temporary shift, the Sky Blue Stars are also pushing for approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to stage their CAF Champions League matches at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Head coach Daniel Ogunmodede will lead the NPFL champions into continental action next month when they square up against US Zilimadjou of Comoros in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

Remo Stars, who lifted their first-ever NPFL title last season, had finished as runners-up in the two previous campaigns. Their league opener this season will see them clash with Rivers United at the Abeokuta arena on Friday.

Meanwhile, in the Nigeria National League (NNL), Crown FC have announced that their players will resume camp on Sunday, August 31, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Team manager Suleiman Mansur confirmed the resumption date in a statement released on Monday, adding that retained players are expected to report to camp without fail. Preparations officially kick off on September 1 under the guidance of head coach Deji Ayeni.

Crown FC endured a disappointing campaign last season, missing out on promotion to the NPFL after finishing bottom of their playoff group. The Ogbomosho-based club will now be aiming for a stronger outing as they regroup for the new season.
