D’Tigress Star Ezinne Kalu Joins Wuhan Shengfan Ahead Of 2025/26 WCBA Season

Nigeria’s D’Tigress guard, Ezinne Kalu, has signed for Chinese Women’s Basketball Association (WCBA) side Wuhan Shengfan.
Ezinne Kalu, a four-time FIBA Women’s AfroBasket champion makes the switch after an impressive 2024/25 campaign with Zhejiang, where she averaged 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.5 steals in 33 league appearances.
Kalu, 33, has been instrumental to Nigeria’s dominance on the continent. Naija News reports that she played a key role as D’Tigress clinched their fifth consecutive AfroBasket crown in the Ivory Coast on August 3, 2025.
The win was the seventh overall for the D’Tigress, a triumph that also sealed Nigeria’s ticket to the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Over the years, she has featured for Landerneau in France, Stars in Germany, Vasas Akademia in Hungary, Roma in Italy, Portuguese clubs Olivais and Clube Desportivo Torres Novas, Dynamo Kursk in Russia, Kayseri in Turkey, and most recently Zhejiang in China.
Kalu’s individual brilliance has also been widely recognized. She was crowned Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2019 AfroBasket in Senegal and earned a place in the Eurobasket.com Italian Serie A1 All-Imports Team in 2024.
Beyond club basketball, Kalu was part of the Nigerian squad that competed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, helping D’Tigress advance to the quarter-finals in the women’s basketball event.
