Joao Pedro Strikes Again As Chelsea Edge Past Fulham Amid VAR Controversy

Chelsea striker, Joao Pedro, extended his fine run of form as the Blues saw off Fulham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
However, a series of contentious refereeing calls overshadowed the game.
Pedro, a £55 million summer signing from Brighton, continued his hot streak by heading home on the stroke of half-time, netting his fifth goal in just five starts across all competitions.
Enzo Fernandez later added a second from the penalty spot, sealing a much-needed win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side ahead of the international break.
But it was referee Robert Jones and VAR official Michael Salisbury who dominated the post-match conversation.
Fulham thought they had taken the lead in the 21st minute through Josh King, only for the goal to be ruled out after Muniz was adjudged to have fouled Trevoh Chalobah in the build-up.
The decision, confirmed after Jones consulted the pitchside monitor, drew frustration from Fulham players and supporters alike, with replays showing minimal contact as Muniz battled with Chalobah with his back to goal.
Marco Silva’s men, who had dominated much of the opening period, were made to pay when Pedro rose highest to meet Fernandez’s corner with virtually the last touch of the half.
Chelsea doubled their advantage after the break when Ryan Sessegnon was penalised for handball inside the box. Fernandez coolly converted from the spot to seal the win.
