Premier League club: Manchester United

Manchester United skipper, Bruno Fernandes, held his nerve in injury time to fire home a decisive penalty and hand Ruben Amorim’s side a much-needed Premier League victory over Burnley at Old Trafford.

United looked set to be denied all three points in the Premier League game after goalkeeper Altay Bayindir committed another costly error, allowing Jaidon Anthony to score Burnley’s second equaliser of the afternoon. But in stoppage time, Anthony went from hero to villain.

The Burnley winger tugged Amad’s shirt as the Ivorian drove into the box. Referee Sam Barrott initially waved away protests, but VAR Stuart Attwell advised a review. After four tense minutes, Barrott overturned his decision and awarded the spot-kick.

Fernandes, who had missed from 12 yards against Fulham the previous weekend, showed nerves of steel this time. He calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner, sparking relief around Old Trafford.

Sunderland Stun Brentford With Late Double

At the Stadium of Light, Wilson Isidor delivered Sunderland fans a night to remember with a stoppage-time winner in a 2-1 triumph over Brentford.

Igor Thiago’s powerful header had put the Bees on course for victory after Kevin Schade saw his penalty saved by home goalkeeper Robin Roefs.

But Sunderland struck back when Enzo Le Fee converted from the spot before Isidor nodded in Granit Xhaka’s cross to complete the turnaround.

The win pushed Sunderland into the top six after just three games. For Brentford, the trip home was filled with regret after letting a result slip through their fingers.

Bournemouth End Spurs’ Bright Start

Bournemouth stunned Tottenham with a 1-0 win in north London, thanks to an early goal from Evanilson. The Brazilian striker’s shot deflected off Cristian Romero and looped beyond Guglielmo Vicario to give the Cherries a dream start.

Despite creating several chances to extend their lead, Bournemouth were made to sweat as Spurs pushed for a late equaliser. Lucas Bergvall’s long-range effort and Mathys Tel’s stoppage-time volley tested Djordje Petrovic, but the visitors held firm.

The victory moves Bournemouth level on points with Spurs, both sides boasting two wins from their opening three matches.

Grealish Shines as Everton Sink Wolves

Jack Grealish continued his electric start at Everton with two more assists in a 3-2 win at Wolves, piling further misery on Gary O’Neil’s side, who remain pointless after three games.

Beto opened the scoring inside seven minutes before Hwang Hee-chan equalised. But Everton quickly regained control as Grealish’s clever link-up play helped Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall set up Iliman Ndiaye for 2-1.

Dewsbury-Hall then got on the scoresheet himself with a thumping strike off the woodwork after another Grealish assist. Wolves substitute Rodrigo Gomes reduced the deficit late on, but Everton’s clinical edge sealed the points.

David Moyes’ side head into the international break with three consecutive wins across league and cup competitions, while Wolves face serious questions about their slow start.
